Southern California SharePoint User Group February 2010 Meeting
The SoCal SPUG February 2010 meeting is about:
· Business Intelligence features in SharePoint 2010
· Using Silverlight 3 in SharePoint
PerformancePoint Services is now an integrated part of SharePoint Server with the release of SharePoint 2010. PerformancePoint Services now can utilize SharePoint Server scalability, collaboration, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery capabilities. Dashboards and dashboard items are stored and secured within SharePoint lists and libraries, providing a single security and repository framework.
The presentation will have a demonstration of PerformancePoint and Reporting Services.
Silverlight is a platform for delivering visual media, and rich interactive user experiences to web applications. Integrating Silverlight with SharePoint provides a look and feel that far exceeds the conventional SharePoint web interface. Silverlight 3 is a major update that includes a tremendous set of new features and capabilities. Tools, controls, media and graphics are all improved.
The presentation will take a look at how to successfully get a Silverlight 3 application to work inside of a web part. Most of the talk will consist of going through the code of an actual project that uses Silverlight 3 and SharePoint 2007.

The Southern California SharePoint User Group is created as a free resource for the purpose of exchanging ideas and information related to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010 and related technologies. Our meetings cover topics on Microsoft Office in general, and SharePoint in particular, that are of interest to Application Developers, Business Information Workers and System Engineers.
In short, we encompass all aspects of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server. The group is run exclusively by volunteers. Our meetings are designed specifically to provide information that is of practical benefit to developers of any level of knowledge, from novice to expert. Each meeting is normally structured with two presentations for a greater variety of information. We also attempt to help with specific problems and questions outside of the main presentations in a one-on-one meeting with a knowledgeable volunteer.
